It’s all about some console command. con_speed or conspeed or scrollspeed or something, I cannot recall right now

Found it: scr_conspeed
Set to 999999 if you want it to dissapear as soon as you hit console key

Excellent! Problem solved.

oh my god thank you very much

guess WON is just not something I can WIN with.

Is it actually taking place over the top of a frame or does it pause while it loads? If it’s not actually interrupting the demo playback itself, you can just cut those pieces out through post production.

well the extra frames are my mistake I can fix that but everytime I go through a level load in a demo it crashes my game

Question: How does one get the expansions working? I have the GCFs downloaded, its just installing them I don’t know how to do.

Hi,

Is there a way to create custom resolutions for nghl? I’ve use a hex editor but can’t find the resolution values within hl.exe

Thanks

try adding -width x -height x in launch options (replace the x to pixels, of course)

Unfortunately no that doesn’t work :frowning:

Hex editing should work, check it out at wsgf.org
HLAE can set custom resolutions in the startup too.

I’m curious what your goal is?

I’ve read the tutorial on wsgf.org for changing the resolution in the hl.exe file. That only worked for the official old version of half life, not nghl. I can’t seem to find the values of the resolutions in there, maybe it’s in another file?

I wanted it to have a native resolution for the desktop while windowed/borderless. Currently setting the desktop resolution at 1024x768 fixes this but i would prefer having it native.

Greetings. I seem to have a problem where whenever I try to create a server and load a map, NGHL (1.1.2.0 or 1.34. I have no idea if they’re the same thing or not) freezes and I have to force-crash it with Task Manager. I put bhop maps and a bunch of wads that a fellow Portal 2 Speedrunner gave me in my maps folder. I also downloaded some GCF files for Half-Life, but I don’t know what to do with those. Anyways, can someone help me with this problem? Also, is there any way to change the screen resolution (e.g. 1366x768 or 1600x900)? I have two monitors and NGHL messes up the display on my second monitor.

  1. Set your NGHL to be running in windowed mode. When you’re launching the said bhop maps they might need some models or other stuff from custom WAD files. The engine will tell you if it doesn’t find something required. WADs go into the game directory, btw (“valve”, “hlspbunny”, etc.). GCFs don’t work with the NGHL client, you can just open them with GCFScape and unpack into appropriate directories.

  2. Once again, try playing in windowed mode. However, I have 2 monitors as well and it doesn’t mess up the second monitor resolution in fullscreen. The annoying thing is, though, that NGHL GoldSource is not the best when it comes to switching out of and into fullscreen Half-Life, so you might just consider switching to windowed.

I used NGHL and recorded some demos and now I want to capture them in HLAE with the speedometer and the modified/different shotgun NGHL uses, is this possible since HLAE only works with the steam version that’s protocol 48? I’ve converted the demos to protocol 48 and they run in HLAE but everything looks like the default steam version.

I guess you played from the valve folder, the normal HL. You need the NGHL DLLs in order to get the specific features of NGHL (speedometer and such). Make backups of your steam/valve “dlls” and “cl_dlls” folders and copy your NGHL files to steam.

To not mess around with files, I personally like to use a custom stand alone mod instead of the original valve folder. “hlspbunny” is the most common one. Which I think can be chosen in the NGHL installation guide.

So basically backup the dlls and cl_dlls folders from my steam/valve folder and then replace the whole steam/valve folder with my NGHL/valve folder? I only use the steam version for demo capturing so it wouldn’t matter that much if I screw something up.

Edit: Haha, took a leap and tried it. That was not it apparantely, i’ll just reinstall steam half life and just replace the dlls and cl_dlls this time.

Edit2: Hmm, that didn’t work either. Guess I don’t understand what you mean exactly.

Replacing dlls and cl_dlls should do it. If not, I’m not sure what to do. Never had any problems myself.

Do you mean the dll and cl_dlls folders inside of the valve folder or every single dll and cl_dll from the whole NGHL folder?
