Half-Life basics, tutorials, downloads - Helpdesk, ask questions here

The essential files. In my case it looks like this. You might need some sprites and so as well, but you should get error message about that.
Steam
C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\valve\cl_dlls\client.dll
C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\valve\dlls\hl.dll
NGHL
C:\Half-Life\valve\cl_dlls\client.dll
C:\Half-Life\valve\dlls\hl.dll

Ah, thanks alot! Replacing the GameUI.dll and particleman.dll as well requiered dbg.dll on startup and when i copied over that HLAE chrashed as soon as I made a menu/console input. I’ll make sure to run NGHL in a separate mod in the future.

You just need to replace client.dll if you want to capture demos with various HUDs.

Hey quad, what script did you use for the duckroll in agtricks? I tried using the one shown in the wiki but it didn’t seem to work for me on those particular stairs, perhaps I’m doing the first jump wrong?

EDIT: Is it just the same concept as the duckroll script shown in the wiki but with doubleducks instead?

Yes. I think it was a script written specially for that map.

Ah, I should be able to work it out myself then, thanks.

If anyone has the exact script though, I’d appreciate it if you could share it.

You could also bind the doubleduck script out there to your mousewheel and just scroll it at some consistent rate.

I’m getting weird framerate stutter in hlspbunny with NGHL, the framerate looks constant on the normal fps counter but when I activate min/max the min value often shows really low framerates like 6-50 fps. Sometimes the screen even freezes for a second. Any ideas of what causes this?

Edit: Might also add that i run the game with OpenGL and fps_max 250.

Can someone help me bhop in Blue-Shift. Let me rephrase that. When I bhop in BS, i get to like 320 speed (idk) and then it loses all my speed -Looks like its duckhopping- (this is on WON - Blue-Shift 40 / 1.0.0.0 Build 1629)

EDIT: Sum it up now i remembered the original question. How can I remove the speed cap from WON BS

Apply patch 1.1.0.7 or earlier.

3 Questions

  1. Is there a way that I can start NGHL using bunnymod? Because everytime i boot up NGHL I have to go though the change game menu to switch. I’d rather just boot it up and go.

  2. How do I install the BlueShift and OP4 expansions so I can bunnyhop? Because I would like that.

  3. How do you, really object boost? I know its just hold down use for a certain amount of frames while moving in a certain direction. But I can only get to ~600ups with the script and 800 manually. I’m using this script.

// OBBO alias obbo "+use;wait;wait;wait;wait;wait;wait;-use;+jump;wait;-jump" bind MOUSE4 obbo

  1. Make a shortcut of hl.exe and add a launch option -game hlspbunny
  2. Approach an object, hold E, strafe key and press mouse4 at the same time. Practice till you get it right.

I don’t think there’s any way of bhopping without speedcap in Blueshift and Opfor without using the WON versions.

An easy object to practice this on is in ‘Unforeseen Consequences’ just before the headcrab elevator, where the silver barrel is just after you leave the sewer.

Yay, got the obbo down, now just for personal preference, how does one make the listing for YaLTeR’s TAS mod not say bunnymod? Because I have bunnymod and I don’t like having two listings for it. I do know that TAS mod is just bunnymod with more stuff but I’d prefer to have it separate.

^

inside the HLSPbunny folder there is a file called liblist

“game “Bunnymod Pro”
startmap “c0a0”
trainmap “t0a0”
mpentity “info_player_deathmatch”
gamedll “dlls\hl.dll”
gamedll_linux “dlls/hl_i386.so”
secure “1”
type “singleplayer_only””

change the game “Bunnymod Pro” to game “(anythinguwant)”

So I’m recording a segment here and I really suck at jumpbugs, so I needed an alternate way to get down fast. I discovered that you could bounce off the yellow ‘Maintenance Access’ sign as there is a tiny ramp on the top of it (I think this is what an edgebug is?).

I noticed that in the HL21 timesheet, there is an edgebug used in this exact area. So my guess is that it’s possible to maintain the speed gained from the landing through the doors, however I’ve tried many times now and have failed to do this.

Can anyone confirm that this is actually possible to perform in a run?

I dont know about the sign but you could (im TERRIBLE at edgebugging) edgebug off the ladder.
also you could get a WON script for duckrolling and a _special Bhopping script and just activate them at the same time to jumpbug
also what is the run about?

Jumpbug isnt that actualy hard, especially when we script for this. For me it took like 14-15 minutes for my first jumpbug. If you still cant do it, you can just give me your last quick save.

alias _jumpbug
alias _jumpbugfunc "-duck;+jump;w5;-jump"
alias +jumpbug "+duck; alias _jumpbug _jumpbugfunc"
alias -jumpbug "_jumpbug; alias _jumpbug"
