I sure hope so!Also I do know that the Nr. 1 fix in this thread actually has worked on either EP1 or EP2 for me. It’s just that the HLS demo-error seems to be universal and Portal has the same problem (according to DemonStrate), so you’d think that this error should be a pretty important one to fix…PLEASE VALVE PLEASE!
QUOTE (CptCool @ Feb 15 2010, 01:59 PM)Hmm, I’m going to send Ross Scott (freemans mind guy) an email how he’s getting his demo recording to work. Surely he’ll have some sort of solution.I’m not that familiar with Freeman’s Mind, but doesn’t Ross Scott just use HL2?
That’s Civil Protection, and Freeman’s Mind is basically a machinima that follows Gordon in Half-Life Source, and if he is able to use demo recording, he might have a solution for us.

I wasn’t aware that he’d done both HLS and HL2, but if he does record demos he might have a clue on how to fix this. Or perhaps he has an old version or something. It’s worth giving it a shot at least! But I’m seriously disappointed at Valve for messing up the perfectly fine demo-feature and not having fixed it yet. But who knows, maybe this is a problem which they can’t fix? DemonStrate claims that the problem arrived when they added the Novint Falcon support, so maybe that’s what messed up the demo-feature? But since they’re co-operating with Novint now, they can’t just break their contract and remove the Novint Falcon support - therefore we might never see a fix for this problem. Whatever the reason, it sucks for us. It’s especially weird that Portal has the same problem, seeing that Portal is one of their major IPs these days.
Better as hell fix it, I will be so disappointed if we can’t speedrun HLS. If they don’t do anything about it, I’m sure Ross will have a solution of some sort. If he doesn’t have one, guess we’re kinda shit out of luck.
Desperate times call for desperate measures: I even tried installing the Novint Falcon drivers to see if that had any effect on the demo-bug.It did not.
Our best bet is to find someone with an old version of HLS, doesn’t need to be that old, any date before November 19th 2009. (The date Typical posted this.)
That I can record my own stuff very badly? That slowdown you see in that video isn’t intentional. That’s actually my computer only capturing a third of the frames it was supposed to.
Fraps,3.1.0 - 8th Feb 2010- Added option to capture videos with framerate locked or unlockedI guess it allows you to record at a different framerate than the game, HLS should run fine while capturing at 30 fps.
Oh I think I forgot to mention this, but when I got a brand new laptop a month ago, I decided to run a test with it to see what really was the deal with HLS. I only installed steam and installed HLS, ran the game, recorded a demo, and tried to play it back. It didn’t work. I don’t think installing new driver software or updating something is going to help, our best bet is to find an old version of HLS or wait for valve to fix this.
I put in another ticket the other day asking if there was any news, idk if we’ll be getting an update, ever."Hello Jared,Unfortunately, at this time, we have no new information on this issue. Please visit the following page for information:Title: Resources for the Source SDK, Mapping, and Dedicated ServersLink: http://support.steampowered.com/kb_article…=1987-WYGJ-3701Additional resources can be found on our forums:http://forums.steampowered.comAlso, feel free to visit the Valve Developer Wiki:http://developer.valvesoftware.com/"
