Ahem…

Code: (demo record and pause alias) [Select]//LOAD bind v "reset;pause1;load 3"

//STOP
bind e stopp

alias pause1 “host_framerate 0.000000001;sensitivity 0;bind mouse2 pause0”
alias pause0 “record temp;host_framerate 0;sensitivity 1;bind mouse2 +attack2” //SENS&BINDs
alias stopp “fps_max 100;pausable 1;sensitivity 0;pause;w4;stop;pause1;bind mouse2 pause0”

Jesus fuck. Let’s break this down.

See below…

You just made a segmented speedrun, what the fuck?

Okay, what does this have to do with anything? sigh… if you’re using NGHL and not using a game.cfg with “stop” inside it the demos shouldn’t cut off at map changes.

Unless you’re talking about an individual demo for all segments, which is demonstrated here in TimEh’s TAS mod.

I could ask YaLTeR - the man behind Bunnymod Pro and the new Half-Life TAS Mod - about this, but both of us would agree in that its usefulness is cuestionable.

Why? As long as your segments are named numerically, you should be perfectly fine.

I have a bind that saves to temp.sav and stops, then I save numerically, like save 1, or save 2.

When I record, I record to temp.dem with a bind (see PJC’s answer), and once I’m satisfied I minimize the game, and rename temp.dem to the according segment number, like 1.dem, or 2.dem.

I Fraps/HLAE-record the segments individually to minimize the cutouts, but I haven’t learned the sound related tricks that can result in very smooth transitions until yesterday. See this video:

This thing with moving the audio forwards should apply only to Source 1 games (OE probably and definitely OrangeBox), Portal 2+, HLAE and definitely anything Frapsed does not need this to my knowledge.

Dude we’re not 24/7 online and on forums. Wait till someone who knows how to help you shows up.

ok

I´m working on a singel segmented run of the current steam version of Half Life: Opposing Force. The problem is that I’m using a save glitch at one point in the run which stops the console recording.

Anyone can who can think of a work around?

I think Single-Segment speedruns shouldn’t include any save warping at all. Runs with quicksaves, save reloads are called Real Time Attacks (RTA).

And if you need to add any extra info, use the modify button instead of double-posting.

I’ve re-downloaded NGHL yesterday, why do i get “vmod enable” in the left top corner + only 60fps? i mean obviously its some kind of vsync, but how do i disable it?

Don’t know about vmod enable thing, but you can disable VSync in your Graphics Card control panel.

didnt fix it

The VMod enable problem - something, something, multiplayer, non-existing command, don’t worry about it.

The 60 FPS lock problem - I don’t know about ATI cards, but if you have an Nvidia one, follow the steps below and it should work. Should.

 1. Download Nvidia Inspector - http://www.guru3d.com/files_get/nvidia_inspector_download,1.html

 2. Run it and click the wrench and screwdriver next to you driver version. Should be in the middle or near.

 3. In the massive window that just popped up, near the top scroll through the list of games till you find HL1.

 4. Now scroll, not with the wheel, but with the bar. Find Enable application for Optimus

 5. Change the setting on that one to say SHIM_RENDERING_MODE_ENABLE. This forces every GoldSrc game that uses hl.exe to boot up, to use your Nvidia card. To my knowledge anyway.

 6. Next go into your Nvidia Control Panel and try disabling V-Sync globally for everything running on the card. This should fix it.

Hopefully.

Thanks a lot, this worked perfectly

Do you mean increase the wait number? like from w50 to w60 Or increase the amount of waits? for example instead of 1000 waits 2000 waits?
also dont you mean decrease the waits?

Both actions you listed are the same.

(edit because I can’t even quote)

Oh okay.

I noticed in quad’s commentary for his Blue Shift SS run that the FPS was raised to make the alien slaves at the elevator glitch out and get killed.

I’m running Blue Shift with Bunnymod XT (through NGHL) and for some reason I can’t raise my fps_max above 100. There is no fps_override command either. Is this because I’m running it through NGHL? It doesn’t really make sense to me considering I can raise it above 100 when I’m running OpFor using the same system (bunnymod XT + NGHL)

can i make a new page called grenade charging in the half life wiki? its a trick they used in hl21 and i figured out how to do it
You simply charge a grenade then switch a weapon and if you switch back to the grenade it will act like its already fully charged and it will explode
Also when you have the shotgun, pistol, crowbar etc you dont have to keep holding mouse1 or +attack.

developer 1 i think

Ah yes, simple mistake. Thanks
