Hi,
I got involved recently with speedruning and a while ago I saw that there is a run where they only use crowbar.

So I was thinking why don’t we do a segmented run only with the Gravity Gun? We wouldn’t pick up any weapons until we get the Gravity Gun and after that we only use that.

What do you think about the idea?
Would you like to join?

ps.:If we make this happen I will do all the cutscene segments so the others don’t have to.

Is it actually possible to get through the game using only the Gravity Gun as of now? I think there’s a couple damage boosts that would require things like grenades/SMG nades, unless the run used some other strats.

It used to not be possible because of prison_01 and a few other maps, but with all the new clipping strategies it might be possible.

I’d be up for it, but I dunno if I’d want it to be so full of segments it takes like 2 years to do.

Maybe we could do a kind of ‘first pass’ where its just a segment for each map just to see if something like this is possible.

I think we should get 5 or so people and place an ETA for Christmas maybe next summer.
(I will do a run where i complete it. It will not be fast but it will be only gravity gun.)

Alright, if anyone wants to do the first seg, from the train door opening, get to the next map in under 140 seconds.

I will try to do that today or tomorrow. We will see how much time I will have.
Should i post here as a video or the demo file?(Or maybe keep it between the participants until we finish the full run?)

We normally use a demo with the save that goes with that demo, and because this is a per map run, I guess anyone can just do a segment and post it here, just make sure your demos and aren’t going to disappear.

Okay I have done the first segment. Not the best but as you said it will do it for us.

5135 - Unpack of course, also you should redo that seg you just posted in Sourceunpack because ghosting mod is now considered *borderline cheating *because of the map arrangements and how it was made.

My segment for trainstation_02 are there already, done in 29s. I did a shitty guardclip and the gate launch in one seg :smiley:

Current map is Trainstation_05, just use the RTA Route, or attempt the dwahmov route if you feel lucky.
