You could probably get used to being scared :rolleyes:As for Spider-Waffle’s run… it will be so good there wouldn’t be much point in improving it except maybe to cut the segment count down by 75%. And if that glitch for infinite health was used it probably wouldn’t be accepted and would be accused of cheating even more.Anyway, whatever you guys pick I probably wouldn’t have anyway. I don’t have very many modern games.

My point is that it’s not a good idea. Remember, when you were still running HL² ? There was a point where almost nobody any more was running.Sometimes, there even was no discussion during 3 or 4 days. And some of the runners became fed up with the game after a few maps.I don’t think running Q4 would be as entertaining as HL², for the runners and for the watchers…If I were you, I’ll wait a bit, make a pause, before Aftermath cames out.Despite of that, if you decide to start the Q4DQ project, I would be there and enjoy 
Look, ive played CS for over 5 years. Im really skilled at aiming in ANY fps from that. Q3, HL2DM, DODS, BF; anything with a crosshair and gun, i already have an advantage of being able to aim well. I think the Q4DQ would completely be up my ally, but its not something i would want to do alone (too much work, single handedly). I think someone should start a poll thread to vote on starting a Q4DQ run. Good idea?
My god… I figured out how to fly in Quake 4. Im not kidding either. Its more like “surfing” than flying. But you do fly, I have to exploit the hell out of this. Ive only tested it on 1 object, but it seems to have an okay success rate. I dont know of really any objects in Quake 4, but i am able to fly with this one. Ill explain how to do it, after people reply in amazement. Check out these 2 screenshots.Fyi, my head is hitting the metal bars above me, so i cant go up higher.Oh, i also have the Save File standing on it, if anyone is intrested.

DemonStrate please post that Q4 trick on SDA forum in the Q4 speedrun thread… it would be very helpful for the one who’s doing the run (the current time is 2h:0Xm:XXs)… you might help him do a sub 2h run

Hi guys,I played q3 everyday prostyle since it was released,much clans,competitions,etc.And also interesting in q4 speedrunning,but the main problem about q4 ist the video record problem,no explosions etc in demo playback,so video making is really hard. I think the time is okay, 2 months before hl2e1 released for a game not this long should not be hard. The community för quake4 is very low,even the q3 community is 10 times bigger atm (servers,clans,etc) so would do you think about a speedrun that maybe has not 1/10 the audience of hl2?fear and farcry also would be sweet and nice to watchbut i think the biggest rumble where an oblivion run,this game is on everyones pc,amazon bestseller,so many people would download a oblivion done quick in 2hours or so,that will be entertaningDiscussPS: yeah,my bad englishc i know, im from munich,bavaria ( Oktoberfest;-) )
The problem with Oblivion is to find what to do to finish it quickly. There is no matter of speeding through levels, like in HL². It’s completely different and doesn’t rest on the runners skills.Moreover, Oblivion can be run by only one player I think. It’s not a teamwork that is needed there…
@ Ad-hocYoure right, oblivion is not a team-rum,more 15 people discuss the route an one play it,but it hase a better audience then q4 atm. But if you run (and not fly the first april Q4 
) then i will join and hope can also do some tricks. Another problem in q4 is the physic change in singleplayer,no rocket,grenade jump and things that make a speedrun interesting. Maybe Sin episodes get interesting in speedrunning,source based,hl2 stylebut for a few weeks before hl2ep1 getting started a q4 run will be the best thing in my opinion,even if its not look god and had this wow effect (bad demo and video function,who wants to run a game with fraps in the background??,then the missing Singleplayerphysics,and less fans…My dream where a q3 done on easy run,perfect skills,aiming needed,superb record and video function,huge community,lots of servers,adn there will be many of high rated video makers that can do the vid to this project.

Yeah I saw Kibumbi’s movie on the SDA forums, I installed the Q4 demo afterwards and tried it myself. It’s no way near as fast and efficient as HL2-flying, but I guess it could be used at some places where there are walls in your way. Also (in the demo) there aren’t that many movable objects that you can use to fly with, so I’m not sure on how many places it could be used on…but it’s still cool!
