If it were to be compressed to below <2gb you’d spend over an hour trying to decompress it. If you’re using a 32 Bit system your CPU probably isn’t powerful enough to decompress it in under two hours.
Yo uh this doesn’t seem to work anymore? Won’t launch even with admin privileges and the rinput versions say can’t find “rinput.exe” and “hl2.exe”
The HL2 v4044 wont go to sourcemods cause stuff like demoheader.tmp and modelsounds.cache. Help?
You should extract everything with 7zip, if the error still happens you should be able to ignore those files.

pls HELP! so I tried helping my friend start speedrunning and source unpack wasn’t working so I just copied my source unpack folder and gave it to him. When he starts his .CMD it doesnt start the game let alone the engine no errors pop-up so I’m guessing the .CMD wont start the engine any fixes.
(P.S he does have a weird program that uses .dat files so one of the files does have an associated program if that could be the issue)
.CMD files should be opened with Command Prompt by default, otherwise they won’t launch properly. Otherwise you can try rename them to .bat files, that will do the same thing. Last thing i can suggest is just copying the contents of the CMD files and making a new shortcut to hl2.exe with the launch options in the CMD.

Ok! so he did do what you said renaming it .bat and he has the same exact contents in his folder as mine which works just fine. I guess I didnt really explain too well but What I meant was command prompt was opening all the code ran and It said it was injected into the library but the game doesnt start the command prompt just sits there and then closes out with no game in sight (deleted and reposted in case you missed my reply)
