SDA Speedrun Purge?

I might be weird, but I prefer scrolling down to scrolling up. I also time my scrolls to be right about the time I land, so I don’t need to scroll continuously. I also have a regular mouse, meaning I clicky-scroll (we should make this a regular speedrunning term). I never seem to run into any problem with this setup. Oh, I also use my middle finger to scroll, but simply because that’s how I’ve always done it. Even for websites and such.

Wow. This is all new to me. See, I use my index finger for left click and my middle finger for right click. When mousewheels were invented, the natural conclusion for me was to use my index finger to scroll the wheel. Initially, there weren’t situations in which I would need to left click and scroll at the same time. Once I started playing FPSs, I was used to this, so I’ve used it that way since then. When they created middle mouse click, for some reason, I use my middle finger to click that, though. I guess I’m not normal in this case. Does that mean that the proper way to use a mouse is to have your index finger on left click, middle finger on the scroll wheel for both scrolling and middle mouse click, and your ring finger on right click? I’m sure if I taught myself to use a mouse that way I would be better at controlling my actions on it

If some of your inputs aren’t getting registered, you could try turning up your sv_minupdaterate to 30,000, default being 10. Don’t forget to change max_updaterate too.

Changing those didn’t seem to make any kind of a difference. Smooth scrolling the mouse up too fast still results in no jumping, while doing it at a slower speed still produces fairly consistent jumping.

Yeah, I just tested it for myself, didn’t seem to do the trick either, my bad.

If they already are pushed off into that “void” of a page on the SDA site, I would also agree that the be moved here instead, considering they are all Source (and GoldSource) engine games. I don’t want them on this wonky random page on that site.

Hosting/linking to all the runs on SourceRuns will also make it a supplement or even an competitor to SDA. Some of the best runners in the world are active on our forums (obviously I’m not refering to myself) and our forums are better set up for specific run-discussions than SDA.

The only thing that SDA has going for them is their size, which in practice mean lots of members and reputation (being “official”). But banning talented runners (Spider-Waffle), having their problematic handling of runs with scripts and the lack of sub-forums for individual levels are just some things that make us more interesting.

I press spacebar, it isn’t clicky. Have hopped on wheel, but it’s just not worth it if you can use scripts.
