Thanks a bunch, CooL! Now where exactly do I put the files? In a steamapps folder, or do I just put them anywhere on my HDD or…? I’d love to have a little race! I won’t pulverize you. You’ve been practicing the game all this time. I’m gonna be rusty =). I’d be happy to share the route I came up with with you though, so we can work together for the best time.

And I’d love to set up a stream. I just need better internet, which I’m hoping to get soon. I also need a copy of FRAPs, which I’m gonna get soon as well =D

@slYnki No prob, you can put the folder anywhere, I put it on my desktop. I’d like to work together and share routes, that’d be awesome. I don’t have many new ones, but I can share the ones I have found

So, I extracted the files and when I double clicked on “hl2” it actually said, “I have no idea what game you are trying to launch, sorry”. Then I moved it to my desktop and it says, “Failed to load the launcher DLL: The specified module could not be found.” What shall I do?

Make a shortcut of hl2 thingy and add properties like -game hl2 or other stuff

There’s a shortcut in there called Half-Life 2, you might have to change some directory parameters, but it should work.

I’m completely worthless with computers, so I have zero idea what either of those suggestions mean. I’m the kind of guy that needs to be told exactly what to do every step of the way, or I mess it all up XD

Make a batch file for him to just extract at hl2.exe directory.

I was wondering where this thread went

Anyhow, quad tried to help me get HL2 running, but I kept getting weird error messages. Right now the one I’m getting is:

Can’t find background image

‘materials/console/background01_widescreen.vtf’

What I did was go to the “hl2” application, created a shortcut, went to properties and added -steam -console -game hl2

Any ideas?

Exit Steam and run your HL2 shortcut again.
