Awesome skip! Now we only need to pass the forest as fast as possible without taking lost of damage. What do you think about my skip under the map? It would be cool, but its hard or even impossible to get on the surface again, ur getting stuck …

I also have a 10.6 with some 50-60 hp left, and a 10.8 with 72 hp left.

I think I would be happy with 9.x with 50 hp, or 10.low with like 70hp.

Is that a final time for Phase 2, or you will try more?

Like I said, I think I would be happy with 9.x with 50 hp, or 10.low with like 70hp. So I’m not quite there yet. And perhaps if you’re able to do it even faster, so no, it’s not final. Of course we should both agree on a segment being final before be move on.

By now I’ve been playing this 10 second segment for about 4-5 hours in total I think, and I finally made my first time under 10 seconds! Fuck yeah!

OMG This is so awesome. I can only do 12 seconds WITHOUT a barrel with about 80,90hp

Does cl_interp 0.01 removes ABH twitch?

Yeah. After an hour of playing 12 was pretty much my best time, and maybe 11 withuot barrel. After 3 hours 11 was my best time, and 9.high without barrel. After 5 hours my best time finally made it under 10. Then after maybe half an hour more I got 9.3 with some insane luck. I do however still think it’s possible to do faster. I’ll play some more later today, and I’ll try to get 8. :open_mouth:

edit2: Ok, 3 hours later realize I won’t be able to beat 8.9. I’m happy with this segment. I assume you’d want to take some time and try it yourself etc, but just tell me when you beat my time or when you’re ready to move on with 8.9.

Theres no way that I can beat 8.9 .. I think we can move to the next segment. I will work on it tommorrow as much as I can, but I will probably be gone in my friends birthday..

About the next segment, I’m not really sure how I’m supposed to end the demo and save? I think you’re supposed to hit the console as soon as the next map starts loading, but since it’s impossible to hit it like the very millisecond it starts loading, I guess you have to combine the .dem with the _2.dem that you get automatically? Since that _2.dem is usually like a second long, I assume that’s the time it takes for me to reach the loading screen until I hit escape?

Also, about the run itself, I find it really hard to keep the speed like you kept it in the phase 1 run. I always hit the right ramp (left if you ABH), hit the roof, then hit the floor and lose some HP and all my speed. If I use the other ramp I jump over a necessary trigger, and thus can’t end the map. I guess what I’ll have to do is use the left ramp, and then slow down a little on purpose or something?

How do you do it? Do you have some trick you use not to get too much height after hitting the ramps? Or is it just trial and error?

When you end the segment, press Console button on Loading and after its loaded type in stop, this will stop the demo recording with _2. Then save the game and we can start Chapter 2 run.

You can delete _2 demo file, its not important at all…

About the loading trigger, I guess your are saying about it right. Im not sure how did I did this. Maybe its responsible from FPS?

I think we need the _2.dem when we make the movie for the run, since it links together the last segment of mimp1 and first segment of mimp2? Without it I think we’ll lose ~1 second of demo.

Hm, I doubt it has got something to do with fps. Basically, you can just jump over the trigger if you hit the ramp with too much speed. (There are 2 triggers, one that I don’t really know what it does, and another after it that loads the next map. You have to hit both triggers in the correct order for the next map to load.) Perhaps a moon jump could actually help us here, since we wouldn’t hit the ramp, and thus probably not reach the roof. Though I’m not sure if moon jump works with that much speed.

Got 534 frames on Segment 3, which is the record for me, as I’ve only reached 680 frames (cant tell you exact time, after loading time is being -68s). Also I somehow jumped over a car (without ramp) and got huge speed now after loading.

This could be done faster, If I wouldn’t lost the barrel when I climb up the first wall.

Hm. I guess frames is not a good way of determining the length of the demo then. If you press shift+f2 while watching a demo you get a “menu” where you can see the time. Your demo is 534 frames and ends at like 17.5 seconds I would say, and I have a demo which is like 15.2 seconds or so, and that’s 1012 frames. >.>

I guess we’ll just have to play until we get a demo that’s clearly faster than all the other demos. For instance maybe we get a lot of 13.xx times, then all of a sudden one of us gets an awesome 12.xx that seems unbeatable.

Edit3: Alright. Fuck. So we don’t need the barrel, hence I could improve the first segment. And so I did. 8.4 seconds is the new time. In the rar below i included the demo and save for that run. I also included a ~11 second failed run to show you how I do the new seg3 route. However, I’m sure there are plenty of other “styles” to do. Also, if you feel you can beat this style *with *the barrel, by all means keep using that save. But I really do think the third segment is faster without the barrel as well, just like the second.

The start of the third segment is a little tricky, as you have to start strafing before the save loads fully. However, you get the hang of it and soon it’s not a problem at all.

Also, I know we only have 50 something hp, but that’s ok. Basically, it’s easier to do the first segment of mimp2 without losing -any- hp, than doing the first segment quickly and losing less. And since we get 50hp at the end of mimp2_seg1 we will have 100 hp for mimp2_seg2, like we would even if we had 99hp instead of 50.

OMG This is so awesome!

BTW: I’ve figured out that you dont need the _2 demo after loading IF you hit the console button on loading screen. Then it stops the game right after the loading, but somehow it makes the _2 demo go recording, and counts time while you are in console, so I think if you playback the _2 demo, you will get player standing in one place.

I have mouse3 bound to toggleconsole, and this allows me to hit the console in less than .5 seconds after hitting the loading screen. And the second the console pops up I stop the demo manually, and it will say something like “recording time .3 seconds”. When I look at the _2.dem it’s around half a second long, and I do still move in the demo. But yeah, only for half a second. But without that half a second there will be a “skip” in the video for the run.

I have just Learned to do AFH. Its kinda hard to perform, but I guess we could use it somehow in Mimp2’s first segment or somewhere else (last segment).

About mimp1 - I say we can move to mimp2, since I got nothing compared to your time in 3rd segment.

ABH or AFH (?) to hit the geometry and make a huge jump where we can fly trought the bridge. Segment it as soon as you hit the ground.

Ideal time: ~10s (?).

Go inside, get the smoke off as fast as possible (remmember how many times you have to turn the valve! :D). ABH to the resistance base using sidewalk. Get in and pick up SMG that is on a car, then follow that guy who tels you what to do. Before walking in grab a crate and put it before the door. When he starts talking in his office, get out from here, go pick up some suit power and then go to the place where that guard has to lead you. Make sure the crate doesn’t blocks his way, otherwise he will try to get over it and that will take some time. Segment it as soon as you get trought the door when that guard opens it to you (?) (Maybe when you get down from the vent?)

Ideal time: 85s

IF Segmented from door, go as fast as possible to the ladder place and try picking up health on the crate.
if ABHing is possible in the vent - we shall do it here.

After we will get down from the vent, try breaking the entrance as fast as possible. After you climb down, you come in to the barnacle place. Theres a prop which you can move, so it will help later. Try ABHing in Goo. Grab the jack and go back as fast as possible. Do the stuff as usuall and try to get trought the Combine Soldiers without any health loss. Segment it as soon as you get to the “Fence Doors”.

Ideal time: 20-30s

Go grab the box, get to the elevator and wallclimb to the top of the wall.

Get into the elevator, press the button, and go trought the trigger without dieing.
