That’s awesome :’)
Oohhhhh haha wow, that’s simply amazing.
Just finished it - it’s simply amazing, although at some places I get some fps drops.
Some info for Phase 3
Mission Improbable 1:
The route for this map is the same, since we can skip the water. The bridge we use to gain speed is lowered down, so we abh straight into the water. But it’s enough to get some speed (although not that much as we used to) and get trough water. We will have to spam crouch, so we won’t get damage from leeches while we in the water. Not sure if the ABH+rocks to go up will still work, haven’t tried.
Mission Improbable 2:
The tunnel that we enter is no longer in one map, it’s a whole separate map. The tunnel is much longer, but the good thing is - it’s straight all the times, no turning needed. We can get some sick ABH speed here. But here goes a new obstacle: The combine doors, which we need to open by going into some room and open them up. I think they could be skipped with some ABH uncrouch magic and hitting the slopes that are on the doors, which would let us to get over them, but I’m not sure if that is possible, there might be an invisible wall. Also, in that room there’s a gravity gun which could help us later, to get over faster.
When we get out from the tunnel, it’s almost the same part, except we have to abh for a bit longer before we reach the place that was in the mimp2 when you get out from the tunnel. I’m not sure if the ABH launch is possible anymore, since they’ve placed these road blocks, so we can’t touch slopes anymore (I think). But since the tunnel is so big, we might get a nice amount of speed, and just jump over with our ridiculous speed without having to hit any slopes. But if we will have to do it, I think we will find one anyway. The cutscene is pretty much the same, except the rebel leader has changed, and no more guard which secures the entrance, and later leads us to the door. Now, the squad leader will have to open up the doors, and since he’s in a wheelchair, it’s going to take some time for him to get there. Teleporting does not work, because when you hold a box and try to whack it into NPC’s head, it simply does not collide with NPC, making the box go trough them. Havent tried it, but I think we could throw the box on the NPC’s head, and hope it will work (like it did in mimp2 - I was lucky thaht day). The route for the place where we go to get the jack hasn’t changed that much. We might have to wallclimb to reach the vent though, since there is no more ladder. ABHing in the vent is easier than ever right now, and I think it’s even faster. We will have to pickup the battery in the place where the jack was, in order to open the doors. Good thing there are no more barnacles in that place, and some goo, so that place might be even faster. When we get out outside (where the random boost takes place), there are no fence doors in that place, allowing us to get trough and also keep some speed. Also, the good thing, there are less rocks on the slope we get the boost. The random boost is not random anymore at all. I tried it once, and I instantly got it right, although that wasnt a successfull boost, because I didnt get laucnhed up that much. But I think with the speed that we’re going to have, it’s going to be very easy to get trough that place. But here goes another obstacle - the autogun is now a sniper, which on Hard difficulty could kill us with 1-2 shots, and you know… they’re accurate as hell.
The slopejump up the elevator might be still possible, since the slope is still there.
Next goes the combine base part, don’t know what route we would have to use there, since I was only playing normally, not searching for the route. It might be the longest part in the whole run, but at the end where you get out of it, there’s a long ladderclimb, which we could eliminate by using ladderspeeding script for AHK :). The ending might part might be somehow skipped too, or atleast, a small part of it. In the place where the rebel leader helps you to shoot the combine chopper (oh yeah, we might have to pickup the rpg in mimp1), I think you could use a SMG nade to get over the fence doors, where you have to wait for the rebel leader to blast the doors for you. But I’m not sure, whether there is an invisible wall or not. After you get trough, there’s nothing else to do, except to slowly follow the rebel leader, since you can’t get ahead of him, the invisible wall is blocking your way.
Well, and that’s it.
tl;dr - The route is going to be pretty much the same, but we are still going to need to do Phase 3 for new optimal route finding, and also the combine base part route finding.
Can we have a child board for this? Its hard to navigate trough all these pages, and when the new run kicks off there’ll be even more of them
C’mon guys, no more
Alright, I think we can start a re-run on a new version now.
I’ve found a new way (probably even faster), to skip the bridge in mimp2, and a MAJOR skip in mimp3, which skips the whole Combine Part, so it can be completed in under a minute
Other routes are pretty much the same, except the transition to mimp3 - we have to get a box for the next map, so we have to do a wallclimb in the last mimp2 segment, but it’s totally worth it.
All the demos are in the SourceRuns Dropbox/Mission Improbable/Phase 3 folder, if you want, I can also capture them.
If anyone wants to run this new version of Mission Improbable, it’s about time to join - we need a team or something for this run, because I suck at making solo speedruns myself. Gocnak, S. - maybe you’d like to run this?
Why’d you name me and gocnak by name? I have yet to play through it casually.
You sure he finished the game now? So you don’t have to run it a third or fourth time :>
Yes, it’s finished. I couldn’t think of any more people than you guys who could help me out in this run, since igge doesn’t have time for running this anymore
Phase 3 has started, runners are me and eXeC.
I can help out when I can, are the saves/demos in our SourceRuns folder?
Yush! Check out YaLTeR’s demos for the seg2, and try to do the same. Aim for the beach and use Shift+CTRL+Space and hold it, so you get a super box boost.
The run is about 2/3 done at this point!
Aaand, it’s done! http://youtu.be/E39i_oSRJNI
R.I.P. mimp topic which was 14 posts away from being the longest one on the forums.
Wow, great run!
It’s fun to see how some parts are completely different compared to the old run, and some are done the same way, only much faster. And just like the mod itself got a nice touch-up with the addition of the new chapters, the speedrun also got a nice makeover for the first two chapters. Really, it’s so cool to see how much you improved on the old run.
Now I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what can be improved when they release a 5th chapter. 8)
Great one, also, i get an problem when i want to run the mod
