hii have a little problem. i tryed to play these videos but i have unpatched non steam version of hl2 (because i dont have internet connection at home) but it always sends me an error message, that “engine protocol 6, expected 7” or something in that style. i think that its because i havent patched it and the demos are recorded with newer verison of hl2. so i wanted to ask, if anyone has patch or link to it which i can use to update it. thanx

erm. no laughing please, as Im a noob on comps , but I cant get mine working. I have done exactly wat doxliy said, downloaded his file, etc etc. but it still wont work. I wasnt sure if i should be trying to run hl2 from the backup folder i downloaded, or the normal directory, i guessed the backup folder first, but it didnt work, and gave me this error message: "Can’t load: C:\hl2v7b2455backup\bin\filesystem_steam.dll"then i tried running hl2 through steam like normal, and it worked fine until I tried to play the demo, where it says "Dropped unnamed from serverReason: Server shutting downBegin loading faces (loads materials)End loading faces (loads materials)Initializing renderer…Host_Error: CL_CopyNewEntity: invalid class index (166)."I am a noob, so if you try to help, please use easy to understand language

(readme.txt)QUOTE if your steam is installed at c:\program files\valve\steam, just run hl2.exeelse modify “basedir” line in steamemu.ini to folder where your gcfs are locatedit doesn’t matter if your steam.exe is running now or not because it uses steamemuedit:I think you just miss the file since I get the same error if I delete it. try redownloading the archive again

I think it’s possible with three barrels if they placed at the right place. you need to do it on easy difficulty of course.

cool. il add them later, i got to go to school now :(jrb said that 5-10 mins was too long, and we should only need about 3 mins, in which case, we need to select some of the best stuff to put in, it definately wont all fit.

I’m not really sure why the stones did that, or why the chair went through the floor. It just sort of happened. I tried it a second time, but the statues just broke in two. Crazy physics engine…

I’m not sure how old that demo is, but it might be because it was made before the patch.Download the fix in the “Oops, Valve did it again” thread and follow the instructions, then try running it off of the fixed version.
