I’ve decided using loner’s super turbo up on citadel_04 is probably out of the question. We can use it on c17_08 instead. Doing turbo up on a pallet is random enough, and on other objects, especially the ones that we’ll be able to find lying around in the next few levels, is probably all but impossible. Not to mention, we don’t even know if it will give us the appropriate height, and I doubt it.We can’t take a pallet from c17_09 to citadel_04 with us, because it’s breakable and will be destroyed on citadel_03. I think what we should do is simply climb to the top like in loner’s p1 demo with a mailbox, which I think I should be able to do. I also think using a mailbox is the best choice because it can be found on c17_13, and we don’t want to be forced to lug one specific object with us all through the next 12 or so levels, as it will stifle our creativity with the maps.Remember though, if we can find some way to abuse physics using the super gravity gun we get in citadel_04 and objects we bring in or the giant screens that you can tear off the walls, we might find another alternative. For now though, I can’t see it happening. It looks to me like the rest of the levels will have a lot of flying

Ha! We don’t need to take a mailbox with us all the way to citadel_04. I found a way to fly with the super gravgun and the coffin that we arrive into citadel_03 with, and I think it might be faster than climbing in circles, although I’m not sure, I’ll have to test it.Of course, it’s faster to fly through citadel_01, so we probably will bring it anyway (or a piece of metal).On the other hand, I’m working on finding an even FASTER way to the top of citadel_04 similar to the super turbo up. It’s called super gravjumping, and I’m hoping the concept can be applied with other objects besides the airboat. Here’s a demo using super gravjumping with the airboat:http://www.hl2dq.net/uploads/319396296/d1_…pergravjump.rarI think the trick isn’t in the airboat itself, but in the shaking of the object and having it be off-kilter when you boost. The coffin you come in can do this if you jumpduck on the end with the thin strands of metal (sticking up in the air), but not as easily as the airboat. However, when first learning how to get so much height with the airboat, I found better and better ways to get higher and higher. Maybe, just MAYBE, there is a way to position one of the objects in citadel to get huge height. Maybe through stacking them on top of each other, or having them lean off an edge, or ducking on just the right position on the object, or something… So far I’ve got a gravjump off of the coffin to the next highest platform (where guards look down and shoot you), but no higher than that. You never know though. Could anybody else help me experiment with that?Alternatively, if we can find a way to stuckjump to the top, that would work too. Can’t find anything to get stuck on yet though.
Hmm. I demo’d the gravflying trick, and will post both that demo and the demo of what I can get so far by gravjumping with objects in citadel_04 in a bit. I’m also finding out interesting things you can do with the coffin that you fall out of at the beginning of citadel_03.Did you know you can go back in it after it falls off the tracks? You can survive long falls by pushing it off the edge and getting in, or you can throw it in the air and get in just before it leaves the gravgun. You can also get through forcefields and other triggers that way. You can also crash the game by putting the coffin into the beam on citadel_03 so it’s about to disappear, then get in before it does. Apparently the game tries to make YOU disappear, and then the game crashes ;|The only problem? I can’t find a way to get back out. I’ve been having fun demo’ing these little tricks though, hopefully they’ll find their way into the bloopers/glitches/tricks video for the DVD version of the movie.I’ve also got a few other ideas to try messing with, but I’ll get back to you guys once I find something useful. Just thought that it was pretty cool

Great trick, max :o I’ve been trying to recam it with demoui, but i cant seem to load any model apart from the default gray one. Any ideas?Anyway, I noticed that you can use garry’s mod for some good third-person camming. The models get animated as you move around, so it looks okay. Problem is, i cant seem to watch the gmod demos in normal hl2. Apart from that, its pretty good. Here’s some screens of the playback-Random mischief- Breen & gman on rampage- Use ‘setmodel .mdl’ in the console to change your model, and ‘thirdperson’ to view the player model when the demo’s playing back. I think that’s it.
No Dale, I doubt we can use it for anything useful, as I don’t know how to exit it once we’re in, and we have to get in a seperate coffin at the beginning of citadel_05 anyway. I tried a number of things, but can’t find any practical uses for it, just another cool trick to chalk up to the extras video.Option, I wouldn’t know how to play demos with special models. Good luck in finding out how though, I think jrb would be interested in that.
OMG, I think I’ve done it again! I might have found a way to fly through citadel_02, rather than take the coffin through it. I have to experiment though, it’s hard to navigate the hallways as they get blurry on the turns. I also have to see if it takes away your weapons if youre not in the beam…I have a lot of experimenting to do, but can’t this instant, as I’ve got things to do tonight. Suffice it to say that if you enter the end of citadel_01 with an object in your gravgun, you spawn outside of the coffin. Obviously gravjumping into the load screen and then catching the object again before you hit it (the load screen), then landing without taking damage in citadel_02, will be tough. But we can just cut those maps into two segments.So in recap:1.) I need somebody to practice gravjumping off of objects in citadel_04 in every way imaginable, to find a supergravjump if it’s possible.2.) I need somebody to try to find a way to trap objects in citadel_04 so that a stuck jump might be possible. I’m not sure if this is possible though.3.) I need suga (as he knows it best so far) to see if he can do a turbo up in c17_08, without flying so much. IMO I’m almost sure it’s possible.4.) I need someone to simply find their way through the maze in citadel_02 using the said method. Don’t worry about flying just yet, just noclip around and if the object gets through, you can too. Make sure once you get to the end (with showtriggers_toggle ON), you turn off noclip and possibly god mode, depending on what you had in the beginning of the map, so that you can enter the load screen.And finally, here’s the gravflying method I also discovered. I made a new edit also :)I would assume so about not being in the coffin for citadel_03. Which is why I was wondering if you could avoid the beam, or the trigger for the beam, or whatever it is, so you don’t lose your weapons. But, then again, we might want it, as we MIGHT not have the super gravgun. I say MIGHT because who knows with this game.
I might try some of those things, just see what I can do basically…I was also thinking about skipping the “remove weapons” trigger when I was playing on the Citadel earlier today, however I didn’t have AHK active so I couldn’t fly - but I might look into it. But even if it is possible to skip that trigger we might not be able to continue due to the force-fields (which requires the super-grav-gun so remove plasma-balls)…but we should be testing anyway

I wouldn’t doubt there’s a way to manipulate the objects to get it to launch us very high… Maybe in conjection with objects stacked on top of each other, or propped against a rail, or something to that effect?When I was playing with the airboat gravjumping, I slowly got higher and higher height until I was able to hit the skybox. I was able to do this by playing around with different positions and figuring out that it was the wiggle that gave most of the extra height. Maybe in time we can find a way to fully exploit this.

I managed to get a shotgun past the weapons removing field.
