DVD idea is cool, but how would it be distributed. Would there also be a place I could download it?I also think the movie should be just straight through the run and maybe a special affects trailor with really cool tricks not seen in the run, but this might not be a good idea because we would have to agree on what a really cool trick is, and it would have the potential to get incredibly large… if that is a bad thing. And remember to put hl2dq in the title screen :rolleyes: .Maybe some wierd 360 image of Freeman with the g-gun or something where the camera view spins around him or something… I dunno. Or if someone out there is really good with computers the runners could send in their pictures and have them digitally transferred into sprites (I hope this is the right word) in the hl2 graphics engine (source?). Just throwing some crazy ideas out there, I can come up with more if you want… but I don’t really know anything about how this is done.I hate being the only one on… it is so lonely here.
oh and what about 3d animated logo? I think it won’t be a hassle to put the logo in the opening even if it’s for the non-edited version.
personally I just want a normal speedrun video without any special effects and music, i want to hear the hl2 sound and just watch it like a speedrun, not some superfancy quake3 trickvideo alá TrickingIT2 (which is an awesome trick video btw). It would be nice to we hired shaolin productions to make the final movie, but im guessing we’d have to pay, and i can contribute with money unless there’s a way to pay with SMS

yeah, think your all right about the effects, still not sure bout no other music though .A trailer would be really good, in which case, should we start trying to get parts of it done? Just because it will take a while for the trailer to get done, by that time, we might have finished all/most of the runs, and can start the real one?
Definitely no other music. This was originally supposed to be just a normal speed run, and I’m pretty sure Tamale was very outspoken against special effects and music. Not that he’s in charge anymore, but I think we should stick to original plans. A trailer with tricks could have music, but not a full run IMO
Actually the DVD menu idea was originally mine, and I have a friend that (I think) is still willing to make it for us, as well as chapter selection etc. For making the actual movie I’m sure there are multiple people that can help, but jrb DOES idle in #hl2dq on qnet, so maybe he’s still interested.
Ok. point taken, no music. As I said at the beginning though, they were only my thoughts, didnt meant 2 tread on anyones toes. Were you thinking of having some sort of intro at the beginning of the speed run though? and perhaps the trailer video could have more effects? I like flashy slow mo thingy lol! I think a 3D logo thing would be cool, and I like your logo Samppa, just not the knobs, I REALLY dont like the knobs for some reason lol. perhaps metallic knobs with the grooved / zip-zag outside like you get on watches? also, the hands look quite pale and 2D.Yes Max, i remember now, but I dont think anyone was trying to steal the credit for it.As I said earlier, does anyone else think it would be worth thinking about starting to making a trailer / teaser for it, now / soon-ish?p.s. who is jrb, lol.
If shaolin does it the shaolin way we will have multiple sound sources to choose from so the viewer can enable and disable music. But on the other hand, I doubt that someone is willing to make a 1:40 long mix for this thing

Here is my idea, something simple like this. If we want more simple, all we would need is the runners name and elapsed time small in a corner somewhere. It is similar to what Dale sudested

If you guys have ever watched Tool Assisted Speed Runs, this site that i go to does their videos very simplistically. Ive watched a ton of videos off of this site. Yes I loved the Chrono Trigger TAS…I am often releasing Movies with the x264 Codec - so if you want I could do the compression or at least a low bitrate version of the movie.
