So, I was standing on the elevator that you have to go up and ‘fix’. I was standing on the top door that you are supposed to enter or something on the elevator. The elevator fell. I was like… ‘Okay, what was i supposed to do?’ Then, i realized i was still standing on the door thing, even though the elevator fell. The door was floating in mid air, so i saved. Then, i realized it was just sitting there because the piece of wood was still in it. If you break it, itll fall. Then, theres a pickaxe that is laying in the elevator. I picked it up and held it while the elevator was moving, between the floating door and elevator. It super physics deformed the pickaxe… and i dont mean like the speed that you would go with the stuck jump in HL2, i mean like SUPER speed. You move so fast, with motion blur, the complete screen is a blur. There. I figured out how to make the door float. Its the MOST SIMPLE THING EVER. All you do: When you are behind the elevator and supposed to move the wood and jump into it, all you do is use the grav gun, and move the pickaxe off of the lever. Awesome find! Umm, so, i wanted to see what would happen if you tried to put something under the elevator… If you touch an object to the elevator while it is moving down (you are not in the elevator), itll disappear. I mean, like, its just not there anymore at all. Also, i put on god mode and stood under it. In my console, it was filled with this message:DataTable warning: player: Out-of-range value (75877.679688) in SendPropFloat ‘m_flFallVelocity’, clamping.So, i turned on noclip, and it instantly teleported me to the edge of the entire level. Like, way outside all everything. It was ridiculous. It also said more of those messages after i turned on noclip, but the values were different, because when i mean it teleported me to the edge of the game, it must have literally done it, because it skipped so many range values inbetween. I will check the demos out after this post.DemonStrate, what you are talking about at the end there, with the small elevator which slowly comes down… There is a trigger brush attached to the bottom of the elevator. If you put anything there I think it will break it immediately, like ent_remove or something. The trigger brush it attached to some func entity or something.I assume it’s there to prevent nice stuck jumps or something
Okay I checked it all out. I think it’s like a stuck jump to the extreme. I had this happen once in hl2, but to a lesser extent (on a barrel). Good to see that it can be done over and over. Great find.It is however very bloody hard to control yourself, or launch in the direction you want. It would also be more usefull if it wasn’t so powerfull. I noticed I traveled at 6000 ups. (cl_showpos 1)
Ok guys, you don’t need any object to get SUPER speed :)I found that while mapping for portal, and I tried it in episode 2, IT WORK !In addition, it’s easy to do, check this demo. By the way, I didn’t use any script, just bind +jump on MWHEELDOWNHow to do that ? Sprint, do a 180 jump and crouch then just hold “back” and jump when you touch the ground (like the HL2 bh). It work only on backward (forward doesn’t work) It’s really hard to control (impossible ? :D) and if you do a 180 to face where you’re going speed will be reset to normal

I thought i did something to this effect before, when i fell BACKWARDS onto alyx, but i thought it had to do with collision between me and her. Apparently, it had to do with me moving backwards and crouched. You found the best find for all Portal and HL2 alike. GJ sir gj. These directions seem to work best for me.1. Run forward while sprinting briefly.2. Then jump crouch and spin around (it doesnt seem to have to be a 180)3. Continue to hold crouch (no sprint) and jumping repeatedly (i put +jump on both mwheeldown and up)4. ???5. PROFITMain difference is i dont even press ‘back’ or whatever. I dont think it works if you do… :-/?
I’m holding backward when jumping and it work fine.For portal, in fact I was testing my map, looking around etc, and I did HL1 bh (even if don’t work it’s a reflex :P), I did the bh in backward and I got extreme speed ;)So I think : "Why not in episode 2…"EDIT : Doing this glitch without sprint work fine too, but while sprinting you got extra speed faster
A bit out of topic, but you talking about TF2 and I found that we can BH using the same method has HL1 in TF2 (it work at lest with the soldier, didn’t really try with the other class) I’ll try to do a demo :o

That backwards normal hl2 bhop thing is so strange. I checked out the demos, and you got so much speed, with so few hops. And you hit the terrain and did a huge ramp jump. Unbelievable!I wonder why the speed cap doesn’t work with this :S
