Do you have crouch bound into CTRL?
Oh yeah, I should have remembered that from ABHing in EP2. ctrl is some special key in AHK, right? That kinda sucks. In ABH it didn’t really matter to me what key I had to press to get that going. But I’ve always had crouch bound to ctrl, since I can remember so I’d rather find a way around that.
Ctrl is a function key or something if I recall right. It doesn’t count as a proper key, but a way to make C and Ctrl+C count as different keys, if you get me? ABH wouldn’t work for me with ctrl, I bound it to \ which is right next to control, and you get used to it. It’s not too hard to adjust to. I use ctrl whenever it won’t affect the jump script, and \ when it will.
I’ve grabbed the source code of AHK and will try to get rid of the ctrl functionality nonetheless; it’s too annoying for me. I’ll try to substitue the ctrl functionality of AHK with a different key.
However, I noticed something about the AHK behaviour and vertical object bounces. I barely ever manage to get a VOB if I use a button like v to crouch. If I use ctrl instead, however, I’ll pull the jump off in just a couple attempts, most-likely due to the jitter. Just mentioning this cause tooley once said he couldn’t do the jump at all.
Edit: There we go. Just replace the AutoHotKey.exe in your AutoHotKey install directory with this one. Make a backup of the original maybe. The jitter thingy can still be produced by binding crouch to another function key like shift or alt.

I think you can add something to the beginning of your script in order to counter it though. Something like send input-mode or something like that. I didn’t keep it in the script though as it made it unreliable.
One thing about this, if it wasn’t for AHK reacting the way it does with Ctrl, we wouldn’t be able to have VOB and Ladderjumping. Try it.

Go ahead and do it! I guess we’ll first proceed by doing sort of a phase 1 run, right? I guess we should make sure that the first segments up until we get into the chamber are top-notch nonetheless cause they don’t leave room for route improvements. Thus the phase 1 segments of the beginning could also be used in the phase 2 run. Sound good?
Since Jared is leading we kinda have to wait on him to start bossing us all around. How are we going to do phase 1? If we do it the same way that we do phase 2 then it’ll take forever because we take ages.
Maybe you could have like 10 maps in one thread and then we each upload a demo of how we think the route should for each map. Then we can put the best demo’s into one video and use it as reference… eventually.
I’d say we just don’t aim for our best times. We start a map and whenever someone gets a decent time, we move on, even if we know the time is improvable. It might also be a good idea to set a time limit so we don’t spend too much time with one map.
Indeed. Though it should be pointed out that phase 1 is more about route than a decent time.

-PHASE ONE HAS BEGUN-
Jared’s idea was for us to show you guys all of the maps done in one video and then you can guys can make suggestions. We divided the maps in two. He’s doing the first half of the game up to when we get our weapons stolen and I’m doing the rest of the game.
The reason he decided to do it this way is because we do take a long time on phase 2 and doing map’s thread by thread just takes too long for something like phase 1.
At any rate if you guys want to help either of us get all of the maps done I’m sure Jared will offer a fraction up and I’m more than willing to offer them too. (I’ve done from c2a4 to c2a5w so far.)
Another thing worth mentioning is that Jared’s out of action till the 3rd because he’s got no charger. He might borrow his friend’s but I’m sure if anything new crops up for him we’ll hear about it.

I can upload what I have right now if you want? I’ve done around 12 maps. The problem that I had to work around was that I started from a new game which gave me all kinds of guns which I wasn’t supposed to have. Let it be said that whatever I used in the run I tried to remember what I could have picked up earlier in the game.

Alright. I’ll be back at my desktop in about an hour so I’ll dump the 18 or so demo’s that I have. Some of those maps right after we lose all of our weapons are REALLY hard. Most of the guards have to be killed in order for you not to get gimped. I hope that we can somehow scare them with grenades a bit better but even then I have no idea where to get them so early on in the game.
