Chomp, you want to run straight to the hole before getting health. There is a trigger near the hole that starts the “countdown” before the wall opens. Getting health delays the start of the waiting period.
max, I have a theory that one of the manhacks triggers the NPC that blows the hole up. I have a lot of school today but after Im going to experiment with killing them off and not doing so.
I already tried, it’s the same either way.
But why did the hole blow up that early for Chomp? His run to that point wasnt very quick. (Im not sure, but I dont think I heard the “step back because this will explode” sound in chomps demo)
Well go ahead and play around with it, but I assume Chomp was just faster in other areas? Perhaps not, but I timed it with just sitting there waiting, and then compared it with killing everyone as fast as possible, including manhacks. Believe it or not, for some reason killing everything ended up slower, so maybe there’s something else involved here.
maby it happens faster if you manage to “teleport” all the NPCs to the next area (I think if you outrun them fast enough in the beginning they will teleport to the next room).
Okay, sounds like this is a job for a tester! :-P. Anyway, i have school this morning, so i wont be able to try this till later. I watched your demo, and it seems that if we figure out how to trigger the wall better, then the sub 2 minutes that Chomp stated would be completely feesable. Also, i think Chomp got held up when after the wall he broke the ammo box to fly and got held up right before he entered that vent. That would save time if someone could do it cleanly.Edit: One thing to help test it would be if the time after the music stops changes or not. If its always a certain amount of time, then the music will always end a few seconds or so before the wall blows. I still havent played the map yet, but thats just a thought.

how are you getting the hole blowing thing to happen so early?
the charge sequence begins once the guy says “gordon freeman!? …it is you, isn’t it?”.if you compare Chomp’s demo with DD’s demo, you’ll notice the guy says that earlier in Chomp’s demo than in DD’s.I think it’s random how much it takes for the guy to say that after you hit the trigger near the hole.btw Chomp (and anyone using dx7 mode) you should add props_break_max_pieces “-1” to your config. I noticed dx7 limits it to 2 by default.
ooh, really really nice demo. It has a feeling of “ownage” when you go for a manhack safari (just looking at them like butterflys, and throw chairs at them, just like on butterflies).Im satisfied with this demo, because its a good time and no screwups.What do you feel that you like to improve?(The only thing I can see is that a shot to the boxes at the end might give you another armor but I doubt we will ever need it, so its not worth the risk of a minor screwup at that point)BTW, im confused with what the boxes drop. Is it the same items every time?
the boxes depend on how much stuff you have. whatever you are low on it will give you. one of the 3 boxes give you shotty shells if you have less than 21, which I always make sure to get. The others will give you health if you are low, or suit if you have full health or high health
