My way will actually save more time than that. At 37s in p1 I already have 4 hits on the gunship, at least 2 of those before you would even be able to see the gunship from the main fighting area. The beginning of p2 will make 3 more quick hits for a kill before it even turns two corners. Also, we will be running THROUGH the firewalls, so we won’t have to wait for them to go down. Did you read my route already or no?

Well, despite the fact that nobody else seems to be running this map but me, here’s an update on my progress on prison_01_p1.I’ve got the tunnels and ladder at the beginning down pretty well, and the first rocket hit 75% of the time. Of course the other two rocket hits are fairly straightforward (except for when the gunship goes on a no missing streak…), but the last mortar is the thing that is getting in the way.Since I have improved a lot, basically what we’re waiting for now is a lucky mortar hit and we’re good for p1. I don’t think p2 will be even close to this hard, just 6 easy rocket hits and 1 close mortar, plus a gravjump and crawljump but it’s not SO bad.By the way, I actually have completed a time for p1, and it’s 43s, but it sucks. Basically I did great until the 3rd rocket hit, where I got the pointer stuck on the rock next to me, making the rocket do crazy things for a horrible amount of time. It finally hit when the gunship was right ABOVE me, and I then adlibbed a mortar and hit it dead on. Still, I can do better.EDIT: I have a working time of 40s now, I’m going for something in the 30’s, hopefully 37s. Class now though, I’ll work on it later.

Great Work Maximus, I’ve played it somewhat (but not that much that I would now what to really do, and how…). And oh, when we crawl under the pipe (trying to keep the speed of the jump though the crawl) we should remember to speed-crawl (forward+sprint+crawl). It’s a bit hard to do push these buttons at the same time, but maybe I just need practise (or a script :stuck_out_tongue: )

The crawljump would pretty much cover that, it basically bhops under the pipe so I don’t have to crawl.I think I’m going to stick with my 40s p1 and try p2. That first mortar shot is getting on my nerves.EDIT: Can’t start p2 because I accidentally renamed my autosave out of habit, instead of the p2_d2_prison_01_p1_maximusx that I saved it to, so I ended up saving over the REAL save and now I have to get the old time all over again. Sucks :frowning:

Imsorry I cant run this map, I dont have enough time to do that becasue you will perfect the route anyway so it seems like a waste of time, maby I will try on one of the inside prison maps.

Hey, sorry for taking this long, I’ve been real busy with homework and school as I’ve already said, and I’ve only had the chance to spend about 5 “sessions” on the map so far. But good news! Today I not only dominated a lab assignment in my Operating Systems class (I’ve been behind on homework, but turned it in on time this time, with extra credit!), but not a few hours later, I get prison_01_p1 in 37s!Sooo, I’ll get to work on p2 as soon as possible, but I have to go to bed for now.

here is another gravjumping method using the big box instead of the ammo box. it is possible to jump over the rail but pretty random for me though.http://www.hl2dq.net/uploads/2090502593/su…ox_gravjump.zipother random thing in this map is damage you take while jumping through the fire walls. I think you need at least 85-90 health and sometimes you die even with it :frowning:

With 100 health, on a worst case sprint jump through both firewalls you will end up with 18 health, meaning you must have at least 83 health before you jump through the first firewall, at least 58 health after you shoot the 2nd gunship 4 times, at least 33 health after you get the medkit near the missile box, and at least 8 health after you kill the first gunship.Luckily for us, the next map really is a no damage map, plus theres health lying around so we should be ok with low health at the end of this map.Yeah, gravjumping off the big box is the best bet. The idea for this map should be sprint + strafe right at the beginning, back up and switch to rocket launcher as soon as you see the screen (use fast switch btw, it’s in advanced options somewhere), switch to machinegun and throw a mortar as soon as the rocket hits, start bhopping as soon as you shoot the mortar and switch to shotgun, open the box, grab the ammo and switch to rocket launcher, hit the gunship and switch to gravgun, bhop around and gravjump off of the far end of the long box (straight ahead, make sure not to hit the trigger that spawns the soldiers), run to and “use” the missile box, grab the medkit, run behind the dumpster (hopefully at this point you weren’t raped by the turret), launch 4 rockets at the gunship being careful they aren’t shot down, grab the medkit and run to the big tank before or as it’s being blown open (hopefully your antlions have killed the combine at the turret by now), sprint jump + duck into the room, sprint jump + duck through the firewall and under the pipe, duck jump through the pipes, sprint jump through the firewall, run through the door and you’re home free.Run on sentence for the win.The hardest part of this map is the gravjump and not being raped by the turrets, plus all the buttons you have to push gets confusing.

Thought I would post my website here in case there is anything there you guys find useful. I have some movement trick tutorials for hl2 that could come in handy (if they work in single player, I primarily work with mp not sp).I’m not a speed runner, but willing to donate my information to the cause.http://www.noobiestyle.comHopefully something will prove useful.

A few of those I haven’t seen, like Jiggle Jumping and Displacement Jumps. I don’t know if it’s possible in single player though, you might want to give it a try there and see what you can do, since you’re probably better at it :)Also, have you considered trying a few runs? We’re a little low on runners and I’m sure HL2 is right up your alley.

hadn’t really thought about it… maybe i’ll give it a shot although i’ll have to learn some of your sp tricks (namely the flying thing)

I don’t think flying should be too much of an issue in most of the prison levels. They’re pretty small and gravjumping will probably end up being a better choice most of the time anyway.If you PM me your IM sn I could walk you through the tricks you don’t know though.

flying wont be used (probably) in the next few levels afaik so you dont need the flying now to be able to compete.

hmpf… it is starting to look like i am running out of excuses!
