I am flying back at 9:00 PM tonight! I’ll be back to my computer (with HL2 and all my files etc) by Wednesday though, as until then I’ll be staying in Columbus with a friend. I’ll help work on coast_11 with you guys. Don’t sacrifice the look of the run for hurry in getting it out though, there’s always dead periods. If I’m not back on our IRC channel by at least next Monday, I’ve died in a plane crash, so make sure to hold the appropriate funeral processions for me!
4 seconds off, and some ammo gained. This map is really dirty, there is time to gain on this one. http://www.hl2dq.net/uploads/2078651193/p2…_p1_o40_26s.zipEDIT:That next trick is pretty hard. there is a invisible clip at the wall you are trying to jump.I made a little screenshot to save you the time to look at the trigger yourselves.
Heh nice pic 04o thats what we need but my question is why rnt we useing the skybox short cut that looked dam leet and shaved off heaps of time.
the main reason is that we need a pallet to save loads of seconds on the next map.
you might want to take the pallet that is in the beginning, (on the way dowm to the rocks) and carry it with the gravgun, but Im not sure I like the idea.
Well, for one thing if I remember correctly, the way up top is slim and makes you walk to avoid falling (invisible walls everywhere), and I THINK it was technically slower, might be wrong on that though. If you think about it, it’s pretty much a straightaway to the end of the map once you get to the last tunnel, and you can either walk down that way going up top, or run + fly fast going down below. I’d have to check it out though.Yes there is a pallet at the end of the map, but going the low way provides needed health, as well as a cool gravjump, and might even be faster if done correctly.By the way, I don’t have the net yet because the UIS guys here are horrible. I can only get on through the library or commons room. But I am back at school
yup, I noticed the two pallets. the skybox stuff is a bit limiting and you dont move very fast on it. And to be honest, I love the route with that hard jump over the wall. If its 2 seconds slower or something like that I dont care, it looks goood.Another thing that you gain by going the difficult route is the speed transferred to the next level. If you grab a pallet and starts jumping there it will cost some time in this and in the next map.Maby I can try both ways and time them somehow.
Just watched all the demos, very nice work guys. Whoever was afraid this project was dead was dead wrong, if anything the bar has been raised. o40, I watched your demo, good stuff. If you had gravjumped off the box as you passed over it though you would have cleared the ledge and not ran into it.
Ugh, that was me, forgot I wasn’t logged in.
Welcome back Max]I[muS-X yeh skybox or not both ways looks mad the main thing it comes down to is speed and time so which route we are takeing its fine by me.
yeah, but I seldom make it to that box so i got scared and just jumped and crouched instead.Btw, does anyone have news of “lost coast” release dates ? It would make a kickass “trailer” for this project, I guess lost coast is pretty short. So Maximus, are you up for beating my time on this part ? Since you are better at that last jump you might be able to shave a couple of seconds off.
Hey Guys…just welcoming Max back and say some stuff:My Graphics cards Fan is dying so my screen is quite messed up (I hope that my 9800pro isn’t overheated so it’s ruined). This means that I won’t be trying to run this map that much (last time I tried the screen got grey…and that isn’t good!). However I did do a pretty cool flight with the gravgun and “the” barrel (it launched me quite a bit, pretty cool)…then the screen got messed up, and I didn’t want to overheat my card. (the new fan will arrive next week)On the second part of this map:Well Max’s way (grav-jump over wall/gate and run through camp and fly) is quite fast, but if you just fly straight up/forward at the wall/gate and run on the clip-brush you have a pretty straight forward route and it’s pretty fast as well…but as you guys said, we’ll see which one is the fastest.o40, you mean that we/someone should make a Done-Quick for ‘Lost Coast’ as a trailer for HL2-DQ ? Sounds pretty cool to me, however there is a chance that Aftermath has a large amount of conversations and stuff (like, how the headcrabs took over Ravenholm!) and that might not be such an “cool” run…but I’ll probably do a run just for the fun of it ;)Have a nice and productive life!
Well sad day for me no more speed running for me. Today i just tryed signing into my steam account and i get an error saying “steam account disabled” I have contacted VALVe about it havent replied back. So i wish all you runners the best of luck the thing that pisses me off the most i cant even view the dam demos anymore this fucking sucks god valve are hopeless.
ouch, that sucks. Maby some of your friends"borrowed" your login ?Btw, whats happening with this map ? Should I try to finish it on my part1 demo or do we want another route or do anyone try to beat my time ?
I will eventually, I’m just trying to get settled in to college life again first.
ok, then Ill put this one on ice until later. =) I tried the 2nd part but couldnt get lower than 30 seconds, its a bit tricky.
He’s back! Yes that’s right kids. Bandit in the house.I’ve got 6 sec to get over the barrier. 10 sec to landing on the other side and 35 sec for whole second part. I think i can improve.
