GOT IT!
It’s all aboout looking down at the exakt right angle. If you get the angle perfekt, there’s no limit as to how far you kan fly. Goddamn it Darkevil, you’re a GENIUS!

This is what I was talking about!
Can someone test and see if there is a way to fly on other props instead of a barrel?
I’m trying just that atm, but it seems a barrel is the best object for flying after all (based on the ones I’ve tried so far). By now I manage to fly all the time on a barrel, but I still struggle to stay in the air for more than 5 seconds on a recycling bin. Compared to the barrel, where if you get the perfect angle you can fly for as long as you want, this seems to be way worse since you can’t just hold that angle, instead you just lose the bin after a while, even if you don’t change the angle. Probably because it’s assymetrical, or perhaps too long/short.
I could share some demos from my testing, but I’m guessing that won’t be necessary.
I think you could use cl_pitchdown 80 or something. Find best value, and fly perfect every time.

Tried it. I guess it might help, but it seems the angle needed depends on when you pick up the object you’re flying on. If you pick it up early, you need either a larger or smaller angle (not sure), or if you pick it up late, vice versa.
I managed to get cl_pitchdown 40 to work on a barrel, and it did also make it easier to fly a somewhat longer distance on the recycling bin, however that one I still dropped after a while. But I think anything but symmetrical objects like a barrel will eventually fail, irregardless of the angle.
Anyway, since the angle seems to vary too much, I don’t think pitchdown will be all that useful in the run itself. However, it’s great to practice using pitchscale, so you get an idea of how/where to look. Nice find!
But still, we shouldn’t dwell on this map for too long. Since we can do the original hl2dq route for this map (and at least I can’t spot anything that could be faster), we should start playing d1_canals_01a instead! 8)
I was messing around earlier, and noticed I managed to fly while slowly waving my view up and down. I’m assuming I was hitting the correct angle every now and then, which might have allowed it to continue. Could help the ease of performing it…
Hah. To me it seemed like whenever I altered my angle on what seemed to be a good flight, I always lost it. Probably because I didn’t change it back quickly enough.
Route: Use the paintcan to propfly over like HL2DQ did.
Go up the stairs, grab a barrel, and propfly yet again.
Find a way down to the tracks, either by landing on the pallet or doing some nifty barreldropdownthing. Use the old barrel, or grab a new one, and wallclimb up on the catwalk further ahead. Grab the box, medkit, wallclimb up one more time. ABH, drop down. Make sure you hit the ground before you hit the levelchange trigger.
I think we should segment somewhere.
We are moving on to segment 012, which involves the rest of this map.
Z1mb0bw4y has a route for you.
Note: Remind that your fov needs to be 90 when you run.
Note2: The Google Document is actually more up to date than this forum is. For the most reliable and latest updates, keep an eye on that.
