Has anyone written to Valve ?
Is anyone else having problems with doxliy’s patch? Please, could you rewrite the instructions…
This is not patch, because it not requires to replace any of your current patch files.Instruction (step-by-step):Be sure you have fully updated your hl2 (Amount aquired is 100%)Download this archive (5.5 MB) http://files.filefront.com/hl2v7b2455backu…;/fileinfo.htmlUnpack anywhere but not in steam folder (you should NOT replace your files)For example to: "c:\hl2-old"Start “c:\hl2-old\hl2.exe”, game should start, valve intro begin and etc.Then you exit and copy demos to “c:\hl2-old\hl2”, your configs to “c:\hl2-old\hl2\cfg” and then start “c:\hl2-old\hl2.exe” again.Now this is backuped v7build2455 version and it can be used for play or watching demos as normal half-life2.
OK, i does the thing with the backup.But there is no console 
And when theres no console, then i cant watch demos!I tryied this:properties of hl2.exe (hl2-old), then write “-console”, but then the game doesn’t starts, because threres always a error message: can’t find background image: materials/console/background01.vtfWhat now?
You’ll have to wait until doxliy or somebody that knows about this comes back, I still don’t know how to do it.

Theres no console to.When i press the key, the console don’t come.
How i activate the console?I activated the developer consloe in the keyboard settings, but theres no console
File “materials/console/background01.vtf” located in “source materials.gcf” and if it not found maybe you haven’t 100% updated your half-life2.You may check this by steam (MyGames-Half-Life 2-Properties)Anyways you may play demos without console by starting hl2.exe with command parameter “+playdemo demoname”.
How i can get the console background out of source materials?

doxily, I downloaded your fix and tried to unrar, and a good number of the files were said to be corrupted?
The archive works for me and some others… try to redownload it… Are you trying to unpack it with WinRAR or some other program? I remember an older version of WinACE said all rar archives were corrupted.By the way, this is my 100th post. B)
Yes, I’m unpacking it with winrar and I’ve redownloaded it a few times. I still get the “corrupt” message. What version of winrar was this compressed in? Mine is fairly new but if there was a new version released fairly recently I might have to upgrade.
