I don’t think “YouTube” and “not suck ass” are applicable in the same sentence, unfortunately. Since it’s 30 FPS you could try upscaling all the way up to 4K, that might produce a better quality.
You can upload to YT in 60 FPS, or you could even do what they did here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVte4–RTz4 for 120 fps (content irrelevant, showcasing technique).
Yeah except DQ was never released in 60 FPS
I think Heplooner wanted to recapture Half-Life 2 Done Quick in 1080p60, don’t know how that ended up.
Would be cool to see a video of DWaHMoV and HL2DQ Side-by-side either full runs or individual levels (keep the faster video paused until the slower reaches the same point, then resume and repeat)
This is the most genius idea ever. Especially considering the speed up feature is otherwise useless. The only issue is many people (me) don’t have a 120+Hz monitor, but still that’s a pretty awesome idea.
That said I think SourceRuns should stick to uploading at regular speed since you know speedruns
People did that for 60 fps a lot before it was a thing
Are you even sure that is running at 120 FPS? If YouTube limits by the FPS, then setting something to 2X speed would still only be 60 FPS. It would just mean that every other frame isn’t displayed. I watched the video on my 120Hz monitor, and it didn’t look like 120 FPS to me, but I could be wrong. I think I’m going to give these settings a try that this guy recommends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3NXl37Nfbk
Edit: I realized that Handbrake doesn’t offer upscaling. So, I’m going old-school on this using VirtuaDub. Just running a couple tests seems to show that it might look fantastic in the end doing it this way.
Well, it didn’t work. I have no idea what YouTube does to mess it up, but I give up. It’ll probably remain the best quality upload of the run for YouTube, though.
Half-Life 2 Done Quick - Insane Quality - 1080p Upscale

I’ve made the first upload I did private. Though, they are basically the same. YouTube puts the bitrate at ~3,750 Kpbs, so there is a significant loss in data. You’ll understand why I’m complaining when you compare these 2 screenshots. You can right click and “Open image in new tab” to compare. Switch back and forth between the tabs and you’ll see how different they are. The YouTube encode is just bad.

In case you didn’t know, Youtube compresses the hell out of videos, completely pooping on their quality.
I guess you could try uploading it to Vimeo, they don’t compress the shit out of people’s videos, like this one https://vimeo.com/73053894.
Didn’t they ban gaming videos like a long time ago already?
