I still dont understand, why you need to wait for c4a3 map ending (Nihilanth)? I thought the run timer stops with last shot to Nihilanth brain, because after that you cant do anything to speed up the procces. Practicaly - this last shot is the end of game. Its like the first level “Black Mesa inbound”. This level does not count as as speedrunning level, because there is no any tricks, to speed up this train ride.
Amazing job! Looking forward to the video of what I expect to end up as my favorite PC run. A shame fastfire had to be abused to such extent—that trick really blurs the TAS line too much for comfort. Personally I think SDA has got it perfect with the arbitrary save point time penalty; it’s a simple yet effective solution to discourage savestate abuse and make things look at least somewhat humanly doable. (But then again quadrazid has proven to be a robot, so who cares lol)
Thank you. Personally I like the save abuse. Makes it more unique and takes it one additional step further away from the more common single-segment runs (coolkid & co. 35-37min).
People may call this a TAS if they want. Mod with all types of custom HUDs. Scripts (some changelevel delays are even 100% scripted). 320 segments. It’s just a matter of how you define a TAS.
~107 saves/segments was made only to cause and abuse save glitches. 53 of those being at Nihilanth.
There is only four instances that features the fastfire trick and it goes on for only 7 seconds in total. So there is plenty of the run left if you wouldn’t enjoy the trick.
If it’s possible its way classier to make it faster even if its after the timer stops. Some people might compare using the time tables (which expose the full map length) that looks way better if it’s additionally 5s faster.
You need the train in order to proceed to following maps. However you can speed up the last part at Barney significantly (45s) if you arrive outside the train. But you cannot skip the train completely which potentially could save 5min.
You’re trapped inside boxes and skyboxes. And you also get stripped of your weapons after Nihilanth is done. So I guess this is just a noclip thing.

All footage is captured and made into avi’s. The main thing left is editing it all seamlessly together which will take some time. I will also be away on a skiing trip for four days so it’ll be on hold.
Meanwhile however have CRASHFORT woken up just in time when the run is over and wants to do some segments… ; >
So far seg 1-7 have been remade into better looking and .43s shorter demos. Currently seg 19-27 is being worked on and will result in around 2s faster result.
Nice! But will the reworking of segments delay the video past Christmas? Also, I’m guessing the explanation video isn’t included in that deadline, if you’re making one?
Still, it’s nice to know the run is being polished even further. Take all the time you need in order to deliver the best experience possible. 8)
People stop flooding, just waits. 31 dec 2013 they remakes 25-28 segments, I think it’s last segs are capturing now. Intresting, how % of explanation of run is made today.
Quad, isn’t it better to rename segment 8a to 7 (8b to 8 nomber) or it’s named for order and understanding?
Don’t forget triggerdelays are impossible scriptless. The one at the testchamber already saves up to 1 minute.
Gauss Boost script should save up to 10 seconds.
